The role will be critical in driving implementation of innovative solutions that leverage emerging technologies such as biometrics, self service, robotics, machine vision and artificial intelligence as well as projects that improve process resulting in benefit to airlines within the group. The role will be critical to accelerating the implementation of automation technologies across our hub and key non-hub airports to industrial scale as part of the transformative change agenda. The role will also ensure alignment with IAG’s strategic objectives, business requirements, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. The scope of the role will include both above and below wing projects and will require the ability to think on your feet and adapt to a dynamic environment.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute the programme strategy, roadmap and governance framework for airport automation alongside airlines within the group.
  • Laser focused on identifying the benefits within projects and measuring impact.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including airport authorities, technology vendors, and regulators.
  • Lead sharing of insights and best practice amongst airlines within the group – if one airline has succeeded lets copy and paste to others where it makes sense to do so.
  • Identify opportunities that enable CASK savings within the Hub and Non hub airports whether automation or process related.
  • Lead and motivate a team of project managers, business analysts, technical experts and change managers.
  • Work closely with regional commercial and operational teams both within IAG and within the Airlines to ensure benefits are realised from automation or process improvement projects.
  • Lead innovation funnel from idea through discovery, trial, pilot, implementation and then scaling.
  • Monitor and report on the programme progress, performance, quality and outcomes.
  • Own develop finalize category plan, business plan, financial plan and automation program.
  • Ensure compliance with IAG’s policies, procedures, standards and values.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and best practices for airport automation.
  • Management of stakeholder relationships with suppliers, airports, ground handlers and all operating companies ensuring appropriately robust challenge while delivering the operating companies’ business plans.
  • Develop effective working relations with key interfaces across the Group and operating companies including line, finance, legal and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in programme or project management, preferably in the aviation, transportation or technology sectors.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale and innovative solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of airport operations, processes and systems, as well as emerging technologies and trends in airport automation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, technical experts and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and empower others.
  • Strong reputation as someone who can execute change (a credible and proven track-record).
  • A resilient personality that is willing to take educated risks for the benefit of the group but understands that failing fast and learning is key. Has a can do attitude and is able to manage conflicting priorities amongst stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, advocacy and communication skills to be able to work effectively with individuals and a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, consistently working two levels above in organisational terms.
  • Experience of commercial and financial procedures to ensure delivery and generation of benefits.
  • Capability to build strong relationships and engage with and influence stakeholders of all levels (verbally and written).
  • Ability to prioritise, maintain clear focus and provide direction in constant ambiguity and change, using knowledge, judgment, resilience and courage to resolve conflicting priorities.

Able to strike balance between short-term improvement and long-term value generation, highly ambitious and delivering results quickly

  • Strong people management with the ability to inspire, lead, build and deliver through high-performance teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Spanish beneficial.
