Job description: Job Description:Job Title: Medical Technologist (ASCP)/Medical Laboratory ScientistThird ShiftJob Description:Performs a wide range of technical procedures analyzing blood and various body fluids to expedite the physician’s diagnosis and treatment of his patient. Records and documents this data in the lab computer system and in other appropriate areas. Collects blood samples and urine samples for drug screening as needed. Additional responsibilities include performance of quality control and preventative maintenance, specimen processing and patient venipuncture as needed.

• Independently performs, interprets, validates, and correlates tests as ordered by physicians by following the approved departmental procedures and in accordance with all regulatory agencies.
• Determines that the test results meet the requirements of the quality control program and if not met, repeats test, and ensures the results are approved for reporting.
• Expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.

• QUALITY CONTROL IN THE WORK AREA
• EXECUTES PATIENT CARE DUTIES

Preferred Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate degree with MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) and work experience to meet CLIA 88 standards for general supervisor position.
• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire.
• Membership in a professional organization is highly desirable but not mandatory.
