Job description: This well-funded and internationally recognised group are looking for a Data Scientist to extend their capabilities as they conduct fundamental and wide-ranging research. They are focused on developing underlying data science and ML/AI technologies and algorithms for the defence sector. This includes investigating new uses for existing techniques as well as foundational advancements in the state-of-the-art.You will provide technical leadership and project management skills to the team, able to lead small projects and guide them to work holistically alongside other efforts. You will also be responsible for providing strategically important services used throughout the group, ensuring these services remain relevant to the overall strategic goals of the organisation.Requirements:

• Relevant PhD and commercial experience in one of the following defence related areas:

• Machine learning and artificial intelligence (reinforced learning, adversarial AI, and AI security),
• Sensors (radar, satellite imaging, remote sensing, and sensor systems),
• Cyber security,
• Space systems.
• Significant programming skills related to algorithm development, statistical analysis, or numerical modelling. Ideally using Python and the established scientific and engineering libraries.
• High-level security clearance is required for this role and so only candidates with sole UK nationality from birth can be considered.

Located in central London close to good travel links around the capital and to the surrounding areas. On offer alongside the competitive salary are a range of benefits including 30 days annual holiday (plus bank holidays) and generous employer pension contributions.
