- Civil earthwork design (including general grading, ponds, drainage, plant roads, haul roads, mill pads, containment facilities, rail spurs etc.) and buried utilities design for the construction and modification of mining and industrial facilities.
- Design of surface run utilities including tailings discharge and brine lines
- Preparation of proposals, feasibility studies, preliminary design, engineering specifications, scopes of work, quantity take-offs, and contract documents,.
- Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical quality and accuracy
- Manage multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Provide leadership, mentoring, guidance and technical expertise to the project team
- Develop and maintain positive and sustainable client relationships
- Coordinate and work with project managers and other discipline leads
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan
- 15 years of earthwork, buried and surface run utilities experience
- Tailings/slurry piping layout design experience is an asset
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and design personnel
- Experience in storm water management, stormwater runoff calculations, sizing of ditches, culverts and ponds
- Good understanding of various coordinate systems and survey controls
- Experience in interpreting and applying geotechnical design recommendations on civil designs
- Experience in interpreting geotechnical & hydrology reports
- Engineering experience in private fire protection systems
- Excellent organizational, technical, and computer skills
- Must be Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of general civil designs and an understanding of industry codes, standards and construction methods
- Experience with Civil 3D software would be an asset
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
