Our portfolio includes world class Bovine phenotypic and genotypic data capture system via Vytelle SENSE and Vytelle INSIGHT which enables producers to accurately select desired traits to continually produce elite progeny, coupled with Vytelle ADVANCE In Vitro Fertilization Service, which enhances the speed at which genetic improvement can be made.The Bovine Reproductive Specialist/ Scientist is an integral part of our global team to help bring certainty to genetic progress in livestock. The Bovine Reproductive Specialist will perform ovum pickup procedures, embryo transfers, and work alongside team members to perform all duties associated with embryo production, data entry, and communication while adhering to Vytelle standard operating procedures. In addition to OPU’s, the ideal candidate will be actively involved in endeavours to enhance our understanding of animal anatomy and physiology. The position will be primarily located at our laboratory in Queensland, however, occasional travel may be required to our new laboratory in Victoria.The following tasks are integral to this role:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Study the structure, function and biochemical processes of bovine to gain deeper insight into the functions of bovine anatomy and physiology
- Understand bovine reproduction tract functions and how the environment effects the outcome of their production
- Explore the chemical composition and functionality of living cells, as well as their isolated components, organs, and tissues in bovine
- Examine micro-organisms, to contribute to the development of proof of concepts and new embryo development, embryo transfer, and synchronization processes
- Complete Vytelle’s specialized training program designed to prepare team members for in-field work; travel to training sites as needed
- Prepare materials and specimens for testing and analyses
- Make detailed observations and measurements of embryo production by analyzing data, and preparing scientific reports and papers along with maintain embryo production data records
- Plan and execute developments of embryo production to gain insights into bovine embryo growth and characteristics to better serve our customers’ needs of genetic progress
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), processing directives, production standards, polices and health and safety directives and regulations
- Follow established Ovum Pickup (OPU) processes including equipment set up/calibration, animal preparation, maintaining a sanitary work field, oocyte aspiration, documentation, and all other tasks associated with the procedure
- Assist client and fellow teammates with recipient synchrony questions
- Embryo transfer procedures following standard operating procedures
- Control and maintain the quality and quantity of laboratory supplies and equipment
- Attend and participate in team and company meetings
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Flexibility with workdays; IVF processes are time dependent and may include some weekend work

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Industry knowledge and a strong passion for IVF and/or eagerness to learn and commit
- Relevant scientific qualification (veterinary medicine, livestock, bovine reproductive medicine or equivalent)
- Previous laboratory experience in an academic and/or professional setting
Expected salary: $100000 per year
