What you’ll do:

  • Design, develop and implement new Bayesian modelling system components, tools and products required for a diverse range of business stakeholders, particularly those relevant to the assessment of land management, water quality, and water delivery.
  • Build upon currently implemented statistical modelling pathways, to produce tools and products used for wide ranging applications.
  • Provide support to experienced water quality scientists with quality assured data, modelling tools and automated systems and contribute to adaptive planning of the evolving water quality assessment system needs.
  • Establish and maintain high-level standards in designing, developing and maintaining complex scientific applications, particularly those requiring high performance computing environments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal scientists and land managers to transition state-of-the-art statistical models into easily to interpretable and implementable outputs.

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Software Engineering, Computational Science, Environmental Science or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Professional programming skills using R, experience in system languages is advantageous i.e., SQL.
  • Extensive knowledge of scientifically robust statistics in an environmental context.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in designing, developing and operationalising modelling and forecasting systems and tools, preferably for scientific purposes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in analysing and visualising multi-dimensional large datasets, preferably for scientific purposes.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication including a demonstrated ability to effectively explain complex scientific and system issues to colleagues and research/industrial partners.
  • Proven ability to work within a team and collaborate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and clients.
