We have exciting new career opportunities for an Antibody Characterisation Scientist within our Biotechnology team.What does the Biotechnology team do?The Biotechnology team is central to the research and development of high quality Randox diagnostic testing products. The Antibody Characterisation group is responsible for screening candidate antibodies and antigens for optimal quality and functionality using SPR and proprietary Biochip Array Technology (BAT), and the selection of prototype products which will progress to final assay development and verification.Location: Randox Site 6, 61 Largy Road, Crumlin, BT29 4RN.Contract Offered: Full-time, PermanentWorking Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08.40 to 17.20.What does the Antibody Characterisation Scientist role involve?This role is responsible for the use of biochip assays to characterise potential diagnostic products in accordance with company procedures. This is an extremely varied role that will require you to develop a varied skillset, including:
- The use of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) to generate quantitative and qualitative data.
- The design and performance of ELISA experiments.
- Identification and sourcing of appropriate commercially available biological materials.
- The safe handling and assessment of temperature and light sensitive materials and biological samples.
- The formulation of buffers according to company specifications.
- Maintenance of laboratory cleanliness and organisation including the completion of cleaning and stock control records.
- The meeting of targets on established R&D projects.
- Keeping up to date with current and emerging methods and technologies.
- Liaising with other members of staff on various projects.
- Assist in the training of other staff in techniques and procedures, if necessary.
- The detailed completion of reports, demonstrating rigorous analysis of results.
- The presentation of data to colleagues, making recommendations based on experimental evidence.
- Ensuring all equipment is within calibration before use.
Full on the job training will be provided on our processes.Who can apply?This role would suit someone qualified to degree standard in Biochemistry, Immunology, or a Life Science.Other Essential criteria:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise work in a logical fashion.
- Adept in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable:
- Experience operating BLI and/or SPR instruments and analysis generated data.
- Experience performing ELISA experiments.
