You will be skilled in a variety of AI, machine learning and/or optimization tools, tenacious and able to deliver robust data-centric solutions across all stages of the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate should be driven with strong appetite for continuous learning, experimentation, and an aptitude for identifying business value in the latest technical advances. You will work as a member in our elite Artificial Intelligence Practice to build next generation technologies for our clients leading our materials and science engineering efforts. You will process data and information at massive scale as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Engineer with machine learning technologies. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to help build and maintain APIs and SDKs to train, fine-tune and access AI models at scale. You will work as part of our Enterprise AI team and build systems that will enable our users to work with Large-Language Models (LLMs) and Foundation Models (FMs), using our public cloud infrastructure. You will work with a team of world-class AI engineers and researchers to design and implement key API products and services of our capabilities and enable real-time customer-facing applications powered by these capabilities. The goal of driving outcomes that drive customer success is critical.

Responsibilities:

Architect, build and deploy well-managed core APIs and SDKs to access LLMs and our proprietary FMs including training, fine-tuning and prompting tasks, including orchestration SDKs. Design APIs for performance, real-time applications, scale, ease of use and governance automation. Develop application-specific interfaces that leverage LLMs and FMs to continue to enhance the associate and customer experience. Develop tools and processes to monitor API access patterns and operational health. Design and implement AI safety and guardrails in the API layer working closely with researchers. Design and build fault-tolerant infrastructure to support long-running large-scale training tasks reliably despite failure of individual nodes, using containers and check-pointing libraries. Design and build run-time infrastructure for serving large ML models. Build infrastructure for deploying search indexes and embeddings in vector databases that will work closely with the rest of our capabilities. Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes. We need your technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities to identify and develop opportunities for the use of AI, ML, and LLMs to solve real-world business and operational problems that will help Unisys and its clients build AI strength and capabilities.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, Mathematics, or degree in a similar field; master’s in computer science preferred.
  • 10+ years of expert level proficiency in Machine Learning and AI with experience in large scale training and deployment of deep neural nets and/or transformer architectures.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks
  • Ability to move fast in an environment with ambiguity at times, with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with deploying large neural network models in demanding production environments.
  • Experience with optimizing and compressing AI and ML models for small form factor edge compute devices, including quantization or pruning.
  • Experience with conducting research and the implementation of the latest advancements in machine learning to analyze and process large-scale spatio-temporal data.
  • Exposure to clients across a variety of industries and domains with the ability to create efficient solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on business outcomes. The ability to break the problem into small parts and applying relevant techniques.
  • Strong cloud Knowledge on Azure, AWS, Google platforms and experience at tech and product-driven companies/startups preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
